The Blessings of Keeping God’s Commandments
Fear is one of the biggest obstacles to faith, but Isaiah 41:10 reminds us that God is with us and will strengthen us. Overcoming fear starts with trusting God’s promises.
📖 Understanding Fear vs Faith
Fear focuses on problems and uncertainty, but faith focuses on God’s power, presence, and promises.
- Fear magnifies problems
- Faith magnifies God
- Trust brings courage
The Blessings of Keeping God’s Commandments
In today’s world, many people view commandments as restrictions rather than blessings. Society often teaches that true freedom comes from doing whatever you want without limits. Because of this mindset, God’s commandments are sometimes misunderstood as rules that take away joy. However, this could not be further from the truth. God’s commandments are not meant to limit your life but to protect it, guide it, and bring peace and stability. When you understand the purpose behind God’s instructions, you begin to see them as a blessing rather than a burden.
The Bible clearly shows that obedience brings blessings. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (KJV) says, “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God… all these blessings shall come on thee.” This scripture reveals a powerful truth: obedience positions you for blessings. God’s commandments are connected to His promises. When you walk in obedience, you align yourself with His will, and that alignment opens the door for His favor in your life.
Understanding why God gave commandments helps change your perspective. God is the Creator, and He knows what is best for His creation. His instructions are like a guide for living a successful and peaceful life. Just as a manufacturer provides instructions for how something should operate, God provides His Word to show us how to live. When we follow His guidance, we avoid unnecessary pain, confusion, and consequences. His commandments are not meant to harm us but to lead us into a better life.
Living in obedience is a daily decision. It begins with knowing God’s Word. You cannot follow what you do not understand. Spending time reading the Bible allows you to learn His ways and apply them to your life. Obedience also requires a willing heart. When your desire is to please God, obedience becomes easier because it is driven by love rather than obligation. Jesus said in John 14:15 (KJV), “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Love and obedience go together.
Many believers make mistakes when it comes to obedience. Some treat it like a checklist and focus only on rules instead of relationship. Others choose to follow only certain commandments while ignoring others. True obedience requires a complete surrender to God. Another mistake is relying on personal strength instead of depending on God. Obedience is not something you can do perfectly on your own. It requires the help of the Holy Spirit.
Walking in obedience brings peace, clarity, and direction. Psalm 119:165 (KJV) says, “Great peace have they which love thy law.” When you follow God’s ways, you experience a peace that cannot be found in the world. Even when challenges arise, you have confidence knowing that you are walking in alignment with God.
Be encouraged to continue growing in obedience. It may not always be easy, but it is always worth it. God sees your effort, your heart, and your desire to follow Him. As you remain faithful, you will begin to see the blessings of obedience unfold in your life. Stay committed, stay focused, and trust that God’s way is always the best way.
God’s commandments are not burdens—they are blessings. When you follow God’s instructions, you position yourself for favor, protection, and peace. Many people overlook this truth and see obedience as restrictive, but in reality, it is freeing.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (KJV) explains that blessings follow obedience. This does not mean life will be perfect, but it means you will walk under God’s covering. His guidance will lead you away from unnecessary trouble and toward His purpose for your life.
Obedience builds trust between you and God. The more you follow His Word, the more you recognize His voice. This makes it easier to make decisions and stay aligned with His will.
When you choose obedience, you are choosing life. You are choosing peace over chaos, direction over confusion, and purpose over emptiness. Stay committed to God’s commandments, and you will see the fruit of that decision in every area of your life.
